Over the past year I’ve been feeling adrift and craving simplicity. During this time, I’ve found solitude in minimal shapes and lines, clean yet elegant materials, and basic repetitive forms. I’ve been experimenting with reducing my designs, using traditional jewelry materials that I normally shy away from, and putting my soldering torch away. I’ve been enjoying hand forging metal and even designed some rings in the mix.
Amorphous element is about the process of being without a definite form and lacking organizational unity. It seemed like an appropriate name for this element since I’ve introduced tiny glass beads into my work and have been studying crystalline-like structures of amorphous solids. Glass is an amorphous solid, basically it is neither a liquid nor a solid – it is a state of somewhere in between.
