oldoinyo oibor

kimber elements brings to you a limited element in partnership with a group of Maasai women in Kenya. The 25 women artisans who designed and produced these pieces are members of the Oldoinyo Oibor Amboseli Women’s Group in Kimana Village, located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Traditionally worn by Maasai women and men, these pieces are a symbol of the Maasai culture and traditions.

Your purchase will empower the Women’s Group to promote their craft, and to keep the village girls in school. The women collectively decided that the proceeds will finance their purchase of beehives to make honey as another income source.

I will be hosting two popup shows which will include the Maasai jewelry as well as new kimber elements pieces. Please join me on Saturday, November 16 from 12:00-4:00 at Cura Co, a beautiful store with a mission to source products with a purpose and social impact, and on Sunday, December 8 from 3:00-6:00 at Momo Seattle with Zuri, sustainable handmade dresses from Kenya.

My aim in bringing you this element is to give voice and visibility to the Maasai women artisans. Oldoinyo Oibor means white mountain with snow on the top.
